Lorie Huston, the Voice of Pet Care: Veterinarian, pet health and pet care expert

Biography

Working as a veterinarian for the past 20+ years, Lorie has developed a strong desire to help pet owners keep their pets healthy by educating them on the various health care strategies which can protect pets against infectious diseases, parasites, and other dangers.

Attending the University of Nebraska, Lorie received a Bachelor of Science degree and then went on to attend the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1986.

She currently practices at a busy urban veterinary hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, where she has been employed since 1988. She works primarily with dogs and cats.

Actively practicing veterinary medicine requires a commitment to continuing education and this is a commitment which Lorie takes very seriously. With the rapid advances made in veterinary medicine over the past 10 years, it is important to stay up to date. To that effect, Lorie is a member of the Veterinary Information Network, a veterinarians-only community which provides clinical information, continuing education, collegial support and a number of ancillary services. She attends continuing education seminars regularly through the Veterinary Information Network and several other online veterinary-oriented sites as well as attending local and regional veterinary seminars.

Lorie is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association, and she does a large amount of work for the Volunteer Services for Animals, a non-profit local group dedicated to helping pet owners and their pets.

Lorie has been writing online since 2001, when she first published The Pet Med Site. Currently, you can find her at her blog, the Pet Health Care Gazette as well as at Feline Health Care Corner and Canine Health Care Corner. In addition, Lorie is currently the Feature Writer in Pet Care at Suite101.com and the National Pet Health Examiner at Examiner.com.

In addition, Lorie has published numerous articles to various E-zines and newsletters, as well as providing news material to PRWeb. She has also written for Ehow.com and Demand Studios.
